theremina’s fearless use of color supports their art therapy projects in textiles. Inspired by math, Yayoi Kusama, Buckminster Fuller, and unattributed quilters of the past, Shannon translates traditional patterns into modern space. Many of the featured works in this show are a showcase of what Shannon calls “conversation piecing”, an improvisational collaboration process that yields one-of-a-kind designs.

YOUNG SCIENTIST was formed in Seattle in the mid-1970’s by James Husted, Roland Barker and Marc Barreca, performing for several years with analog synths, tape loops and keyboards. Following re-releases of 1970s material on the German labels Bureau B and Vinyl on Demand, Husted and Barreca sporadically reunite for live performances of YS’s immersive blend of pulsating electronics and soundscapes.

MONSTER PLANET is a place that lies just around the corner of our imaginations. Discovered accidentally in April of 2010, extensive research into this vast uncharted anomaly is conducted by a clandestine organization known as SYNPROV CORP, a sprawling collective of musicians, producers, designers, pixel bandits, video specialists, and B-movie chuds. Exploring Monster planet is an immersion of surreal improvised audio/visual performance that blends cutting-edge ambient / experimental / kosmische electronica, obscure cinema, DIY visuals, and general WTFness.

Join us on Friday, June 6 at Monster Planet HQ in Fremont/Seattle for an evening of music and art, featuring comic artist Marc J Palm — Eisner Nominated cartoonist of The Ghastlygun Tinies (Mad Magazine), and creator of comic books The Fang and co-creator of Punch to Kill.

We'll be opening the garage door at 6PM, so come on down to The Center of the Universe (Fremont) and join us for some great art and music!

June is nigh, and cartoonist MARC J PALM — instagram link — is having a MF’n art show! Marc has been our #1 source for when we need something really special, which is why our Worst Date Ever posters looked so killer over the years.

Probably most known for his artistic contributions to the illustrious and very high-quality publication THE OOZE, MJP has drawn a megaton of comics and other cool shit too. For ART GUAC! he’s pulling from his archives and making original drawings, paintings, sketches from posters and comics that you know and love available to the public collecting market. His elaborate, bizarre, and downright monstrous style is serious eye-candy and will be a delightful eyeful en masse.

And according to “sources,” ANNIHILATION SQUARES — bandcamp link — will be popping and fuzzing out some tunes. Plus an extreme chance of visuals from dimensions unheard of.

Veteran Seattle electronic music composer Marc Barreca performs electronic compositions with modular synth and audio processing. He has been making electronic music in Seattle since the mid-1970s, releasing a number of projects over the years on the Hawaii-based Palace of Lights label. His most recent releases include the solo CD Recordings of Failing Light, and a collaboration with K. Leimer, Drowning Guides.
